We don’t watch the scenes when people are killed. For example, we don’t see the guys escape from their cells. Other action scenes could have been shown but were not. It has some heroine stupidity because twice Lily goes “alone” to the bad guys’ place saying to her buddies “I’ll be fine, don’t worry.” But something bad happens to her. They talk about what to do about the bad guys, but there is no interesting process of discovery. Lily is upset when she learns what her father did in the past. Lily feels bad because her father was killed. Most of the book is boring conversation and ponderings about feeling bad, sad, angry, and what to do. Bad guys want to sell this process to other countries and kill anyone in the way. The characters are trained military guys given drugs to create psychic powers, but at times they have pain from it. So get ready for wonderful ride full of thrills, passion, love, fear, betrayal, friendship … I think you get the idea an honestly what more could a reader/ listener want We meet many of the characters from Team 1 that are explored more fully in the up and coming series this gives you a sense of meeting new friends feeling what they feel as the plot unfolds. Their contrasting personalities, ( Ryland the gentle warrior, well when it comes to Lily any way) and Lily with keen intelligence and her sweet innocent to the harsh reality show us a couple that help each other grow and become stronger as a couple. Lily & Ryland are fantastic and believable characters and a great to introduce us to the Ghostwalkers.
The suspense in these books are as fundamental to the story line as the romance, which leaves me feeling fully satisfied once the read has come to the and allows me to be fully engaged for the duration of the story. I love the concept that is consistent throughout all the books in this series and has strong male & females characters. Having read Christine Feehan’s Dark Hunter series I was keen to see what the GhostWalkers offered, happily, it offered it all for me and remains one of my all-time favourites series.
